God directs, but you make the decision.

Genesis 2:23 says "And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" (KJV).

Note that in the above verse, that it wasn't God who called Eve woman, but Adam. And if Adam hadn't accepted Eve as his help mate, God wouldn't have forced him to.

Genesis 2:18 says "And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" (KJV).

So it is today, God will never choose a spouse for you, let alone force you to accept anybody as your spouse, but he will only give you his direction if you seek his assistance and after giving you his assistance, you still decide to make the wrong decision it is yours to bear. He may even bring a suitable person (or persons) across your path, and this will now depend on your discernment to see what your Heavenly Father is showing you.

There is this amazing fact about God, he has given to us the power of Freewill to choose what is right or what is wrong.

Genesis 2:16-17 says "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (KJV).
God always gave man the power of freewill from the beginning of creation and he will never violate that.
If you look at the story of ISAAC and REBEKAH;

Genesis 24:1-9 which says

Abraham was now very old, and the LORD had blessed him in every way.

2. He said to the senior servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh.

3. I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

4. but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."

5. The servant asked him, "What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?"

6. "Make sure that you do not take my son back there," Abraham said.

7. "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land'he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

8. If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there."

9. So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

Note, he (Abraham) said, "if the woman is unwilling to come back with you". So freewill is what we are blessed with from God. So don't ever blame God for the wrong decisions you made, because you had every reason to make it right too.

Let's take another example from the Bible, which is Hosea.
God told the Prophet Hosea, to marry a harlot, a prostitute, Ashawo # Nigeria slang for prostitute. But God didn't tell him the particular prostitute to marry. Hosea also had the freewill to decide which prostitute he wanted, and he chose Gomer.
