Social Media Hookup

This is one common phenomenon in our generation today. Social media has now turned to a platform that allows several hookups without first getting to see the person you're chatting with. 

There are good sides as well as bad sides. But the bad sides far supersedes the good sides.

Let's Imagine!

You're on this social media hookup hub, and suddenly a guy/lady chats you up. Now the very first thing that occurs within you is this;

• You already know you're on a love hub, which means you're already expecting that Mr Somebody or Mrs Somebody?
• What is this person's personality (identity)??. Curiosity sets in. And you can guess by the way the persons chat, the use of expression and emojis.

• Now you introduce yourself in the best and most presentable manner. This is what we call (packaging) in Nigeria.
• Discussion sets in, but gradually. A common Hi...., Hey....., and so on. If you're feeling the flow and vibes the chat continues (most especially for the ladies). Although in most cases, rarely, a discussion via chat does not end well. Why, because it's a chat, there is plenty of room for editing, proofreading, and spell checker text. Unlike the real-time conversation (face to face interaction). Once the mistake is made, once there is a grammatical error it can't be edited.
• And now you get to these moments where feelings are let out. This is after a series of chatting and texting.
• Now if this stage passes, you tend to access the previous chats. And if it suits you, you go ahead and book an appointment with him/her.

Here is the gist;

Social media hookup is a fast forward to what God already has in stock for you. 

Here is the reason;

First, from the above scenario, they didn't get to see physically. Online chat can cover a lot of flaws, lapses that can be spotted from a face to face interaction. 

Secondly, the person whom you felt attracted to because of his sense of humour online, or her sense of approach online might be shy offline (real-time conversations) and the lady might not be approachable offline too.

Thirdly, on most social media hookups, there are so many lies. People only get to talk about their good sides and not their bad sides. No one gets to say his/her flaws or deficits.

How will you feel, when you finally get to meet the guy who says he is a visional to his generation, then turns out to be a window cleaner??

Or a lady who tells you that she is a businesswoman online then turns out to be a hawker offline??

I am not trying to criticize any profession here, but please be guided on whatever you see online and think critically for yourself. But regardless of this, it doesn't mean that social media hookups do not favour some people!! It does. 

But the idea is not to categorize everybody as the same thing. Theirs is not mine, and mine is not theirs...!

There is a reason why Colossians 3:2 says "set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (KJV). God in all things and his infinite mercies will always supply all your needs according to His timing in your life. 

Just have faith, obey and believe him. He will surely surprise you. For He is the I AM THAT I AM according to Exodus 3:14.
