Planning your life as a person should come first, before thinking of settling down. Or are you going to bring your children to the world to suffer. If not, definitely there are certain criteria that must be laid down. And planning your life strategically is one of them.
Proverbs 21:5 says "Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough" (Good News Bible).
Let me also bring to your awareness that marriage is an honorable thing in the sight of God and men, to those that do it right according to his (God's) standards, but certain other steps needs to be available.
It's just like preparing for an examination.
- First you attend various classes for your different courses,
- Your lecturers teaches you,
- Questions can be asked in areas not fully understood,
- Assignments are given,
- Test is given to test your understanding so far,
- And finally the exam.
The same process applies to marriage. God your Heavenly Father has to take you through so many test, but in form of stages, before the actual big day (marriage).
Preparation for that big day is one of the responsibilities of your Heavenly Father, to ensure you are fully fit for that step in life, only if you will yield to him fully.
Haven't you wondered why Joseph in the Bible didn't have to look for a wife. It was already there for him if you read the books of Genesis 41. So this is how your Heavenly Father operates.
He knows what you want better than what you think you want.
The Bible also makes us understand that "If anyone fails to provide for his relatives, especially for those of his own family, he has disowned the faith [by failing to accompany it with fruits] and is worse than an unbeliever [who performs his obligation in this matter]. 1 Timothy 5:8 (Amplified Bible).
This issue isn't for the guys only, but also for the ladies. Catering for the family isn't meant for the guys only. Though we know that the lady or woman is a help meet according to Genesis 2:18 (KJV)
But still it isn't bad to utilize your potentials and help your man.
They often say, two heads are better than one.
Ecclesiastes 4:9
[9]Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed (NLT).
So be guided, for there is a time and season for everything under the Heaven according to Ecclesiastes 3:1.
Strategise your life with God the Father first. Let him be the anchor, director and manager of your life according to his plans for you. And everything must and will fall in place.
