In everything you do in life, oppositions are bound to happen. And relationships leading to a successful marriage isn't left out of this opposition problem. In fact marriage, relationships have so many oppositions that, if the two persons involved aren't sure of what they share and feel for each other, they'll doubt their love.
So here is the first quote; "whatever good that comes your way in life, there is also as many oppositions as there can ever be".
It's life and so when these (oppositions) happens in relationships, it could mean two things;
- It's for the right course (Positive) or
- It's an opposition to the right course (negative).
The 1. Above means, an opposition could open your eyes to the things you didn't see, things you didn't take note of.
And note: anybody could be an opposition to your relationship. It all depends on the manner or way they come. Though most oppositions tend to come from family, relations and close friends.
The 2. Above "opposition to the right course", is the main area of our write up.
Let's take an example from the Bible. Matthew 1:19-20
If you take a look at Joseph and Mary, the earthly parents of our LORD Jesus Christ, there was an opposition for some time. The aspect that Joseph was about secretly leaving his betrothed Mary, because she was pregnant (though they weren't married yet). Matthew 1:19-20 "Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
Verse 20; but after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit" (NIV).
So you could see that there was a slight opposition at first. But this wasn't from parents or friends, but what Joseph once thought was Mary's doing (that is for getting pregnant).
From here we draw our next inference.
An opposition can be caused by you. It's not everytime an opposition may appear against you. Sometimes you might be the opposition to your own relationship/marriage.
Oppositions could result from your past actions reflecting in your present. This was kind of similar to the Mary And Joseph case, because Joseph thought it was Mary actions (probably sleeping around with other men that got her pregnant, because he knew he had not slept with her) till an Angel of God spoke to him in a dream, that it probably wasn't what he was thinking.
A lady sleeping around with different men, when she isn't married is already setting an opposition to her future. Your actions today is what defines your future tomorrow.
Take for instance, a lady who has lost her womb due to several abortions? What do you think will become of her matrimonial home tomorrow?
So please be careful. God do forgive sins and he will continue to forgive sin as long as it's a genuine repentance, but the did has already be done (as we commonly say it in Nigeria).
The womb is gone, like lost......!!!!!!!!!
Though I'm not saying God can't do his miracle, sure he can. But remember his ways are not our ways, neither are his thoughts ours...... Isaiah 55:8.
And the final fact for this write up is, most times the oppositions starts from within you, before it extends to the external people surrounding your life.
If you're sure (including your partner) of the decision you're both making in the relationship, or marriage or soon to be married, then even when the oppositions do come, you can both stand your ground and overcome it together. So be guided and walk in insight.
