Proverbs 7:16-17, "My bed is spread with beautiful blankets, with coloured sheets of Egyptian linen.
Verse 17 "I've perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon" (NLT).
So let's break it down by using some definitions to enhance our understanding.
Linen: a smooth, strong cloth made from flax.
What is Flax? A plant that has blue flowers and that is grown for its fiber and its seed.
Myrrh: a sticky brown substance that comes from trees, that has a sweet smell, and that is used in products that give the air or people's bodies a pleasing smell.
Aloes: a tropical plant that has heavy leaves which produce a thick liquid used in medicines, cosmetics
Cinnamon: a sweet spice made from the bark of an Asian tree and used in cooking and baking.
From the definitions above, they are all synonymous with;
- Clothing,
- Aroma (sweet smell),
- Perfume,
- Beautiful colours,
- Satisfaction,
- Alluring.
- Cosmetics.
You can also add yours too.
Now, here is a tip for women, "men are attracted most times by what they see".
If you're a fan, a social media follower of Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, the founder of Love, Dating and Marriage, you would have heard him say this (the above quote) several times on his talks and seminars on relationships.
Women or ladies, for those who are married and yet to get married, it is all agreed that character will keep a man, but your physique should attract him to you first. After he has seen this, then your character sums it up making it a combo. That's if your character is a good one.
Because you can be beautiful and yet lack character
Here is a link for that post below. . . .
And for the married women, the fact you're married do not mean you shouldn't be attractive, it doesn't mean you don't have to dress well to please your husband anymore.
# Slay for your husband
Your husband should be satisfied physically by what what he sees in his wife, and how you take good care of your body becomes very vital in this aspect.
Now note; no lady is ugly, no woman is unattractive. It all depends on how you take good care of;
- Your body,
- Your diet,
- Exercise (this might not be applicable to every woman, especially those that are mothers). I mean the time becomes a major factor here, because you have kids you're actually responsible for. But if you can still juggle both, then there is no problem.
Men will always be men (literally), and being attractive is one way to get him (your husband), on happy mood.
The lady in the above verse Proverbs 7:16-17, was actually married and still alluring, (though it was for a bad course) if you start reading from the 1st verse.
But here is a very good example from the Bible.
Genesis 24:16 "And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up" (KJV).
NLT Bible uses "The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her . . . . .
Amplified Bible uses "And the girl was very beautiful and attractive, chaste and modest, and unmarried . . . . . .
Now, what did you notice?
The above verses first recognized that Rebekah was very beautiful (attractive), Amplified Bible specifically uses the word attractive, before it (Bible) ever recognized she was a virgin and unmarried.
The attractiveness alone was already enough to catch Isaac's attention first, before ever knowing anything about Rebekah.
If you are observant as a lady or as a guy, there are times a lady passes by and you see the attention she draws. Mostly you'll see the guys (if not all) staring in awe at her alluring style. Well it is not their fault, it is how we (men) were wired (created). We appreciate things that are beautiful, but it takes only the discipline of the Holy Spirit not to cross the boundaries (for guys who aren't married and for men who are married).
If you go through the Bible, there were was a time Isaac had to lie about Rebekah being his sister for the sake of his life, because she was just too beautiful. Scripture reference: Genesis 26:6-7.
The same thing also happened to his Father, Abraham in the case of Sarai. Scripture reference: Genesis 12:10-20.
So you must look good, ladies and also the married women too. Let your husband rejoice with the wife of his youth (that's you as his wife) with gladness and intimacy.
