Why is he affectionate one moment, distant the next?

Take it or leave it, even you asking this question do feel this way about him once in a while. We are complex beings as a post rightly stated;

We're complicated creatures, with complex feelings. We're not Reggie from Archie comics or Joey from Friends. Feelings take time to straighten out, especially at the beginning.

Sometimes we want to be in the companionship of friends and some other time we just want to be alone, in a quiet place, relationship-wise too.

What we need to do at this moment of every relationship is learn to understand ourselves first and then each other. No relationship even marriage is free from this. This doesn't mean the marriage or relationship is shaking or faulty, though depending on your marriage and relationship.

I do feel this way too once in a while. It doesn't mean I am not happy in my friendship...Nah..sometimes we need that " me time" more like a reflective time to think.

For married couples, just ensure to express how you're feeling at that moment to your spouse for clarity. Just so you know, to avoid misconception of whatsoever that could lead to something we didn't bargain for the very ab initio.
